Harpur's Ferry Student Volunteer Ambulance Service was founded in 1973 to provide professional and compassionate Emergency Medical Service the students, staff and guests of Binghamton University in addition to providing aid to Broome County. The 150 student and community members of Harpur's Ferry are trained as New York State Certified Emergency Medical Technicians providing basic or advanced life support 24 hours a day. The agency responds to medical emergencies, transports to the three area hospitals, provides standby coverage for events on campus, and is actively involved in the Binghamton University community. HFSVAS is one of 11 collegiate ambulance services in the country to have Advanced Life Support transport capabilities.
